And I see now that your message confirms that xawtv wasn't working on new
hardware either with that (required) cx23416 command change. So the
workaround I talked about Sunday had no chance of working for you.

I've e-mailed the xawtv maintainer about this. No reply yet, but it's
only been about 11 hours.

There are still 2 more experiments I'm probably going to try. First I
think I understand the mpeg stream format well enough now to identify any
garbage or filler data that might be getting interspersed between the
packets, so I'm going to test for that. If that is happening, it would
explain why xawtv isn't liking it. Second, I'm going to try passing '0'
as that magic second argument to that previously mentioned cx23416 command
and see if that works. Using zero there would make the behavior
compatible with what is the ivtv-sourced cx23416 document. Barry: Could
you please try that on your hardware? (Save me some time.) I'm wondering
if zero might work for both types of hardware.
