Well this is a tougher question to answer than it probably should be.
I haven't tried an updated version of xawtv in quite a while. I only
use the program as a test vector for the pvrusb2 driver; for routine use
I use MythTV and for more in depth testing I tend to use mplayer
combined with the pvrusb2 driver's sysfs interface. My understanding is
that xawtv is in the process of being (or has already been) abandoned.
Certainly you can try to contact the author. You also might try just
wandering google to see what others might have found.
There are a few people here who use xawtv. Perhaps somebody else here
can suggest a few things. Given the scope of the error messages, this
might be something basic like a missing header or a wrong version of a
-dev package. But I haven't encountered any problems. But I'm also
using a much older xawtv distribution. The last version I downloaded
was xawtv-20060317-134453. I can put that up on the web server if it
will help.
