Mike, You are absolutely right. I tried the same install (thse same driver source and firmware) on another machine (also gentoo running 2.6.15) and it works perfectly . It looks like problem with mplayer. I'l try to find what is wrong and if I find I'll post the solution here. Thank you! Ervins
