FWIW, I've done just this; I downloaded the 20070227 package and built it a 
few days ago. Since then, I've had no problems with the device becoming 
mysteriously unavailable. I have seen one "encoder appears to be stuck" 
message, but it wasn't accompanied by any other weirdness.
