That device, though it has digital and analog sides, only has a single 
tuner.  It also only has a single video "pathway".  It's really a single 
device with two modes, not two devices.  So no, you can't run both 
analog and digital at the same time.  It just isn't possible in the 
hardware.

Yes you are correct in that only one side (V4L vs DVB) can be open at a 
time.  Opening the DVB side causes a mode switch to digital, while 
opening the V4L side causes a similar mode swith to analog.
