Just found the reason why avidemux-2.6 is hard masked within Gentoo, 
avidemux-2.6 requires Qt 4.8.4 version, which has not yet been declared stable 
on Gentoo.  Current Qt stable looks to be 4.8.2. Hence:


1) Unmask and unkeyword avidemux-2.6

2) Upgrade
USE="-qt4" emerge -pv media-video/avidemux

A quick and easy work around as I try to avoid Qt <ack>.
