The issue is very simple and it's not your fault.  You're just the most 
recent person to get victimized by it.

Yeah, because the trigger for the problem got introduced in the 2.6.16 
kernel.  The fault lay with the pvrusb2 driver however.  I was doing 
something really ugly to work around a need to include a header which is 
in a private part of the kernel source tree (and thus not always present 
in distro kernel trees).  A structure in that header got moved in 2.6.16 
(to a more public spot - where it really belongs anyway).  Thus the 
problem.

The snapshot I just released fixes this.
