Forgot to mention that I am using pvrusb2-mci-20050804.  I first got the
remote to work with the 20050430 snapshot.  My firmware is:

-rw-r--r--  1 root root   8192 Aug 11 16:01 /lib/firmware/pvrusb2.f1
-rw-r--r--  1 root root 262144 Aug 11 16:01 /lib/firmware/pvrusb2.f2

I don't remember what version the firmware is.
