Hmm, I didn't think that would be confusing.  The overall concept here 
(as you obviously realize) is just to get those driver files in a spot 
where fwextract.pl can get a look at them.  Whether copied to a local 
directory or directly mounted from the CD doesn't matter.  And yeah, you 
certainly don't need to futz with a live Windows system to do any of 
that.
